What to have ready
None of this is required. All of it makes the call shorter and the order right the first time.
Your roof material
Asphalt shingle, tile, metal or low slope. This determines the flashing kit, and the flashing kit is what keeps water out.
Deck mount or curb mount
If you are replacing an existing unit, tell us what is up there now. If you are cutting a new opening, tell us the roof pitch.
The rough opening, not the glass
Measure the framed opening between rafters. Skylights are ordered by size code, and the code has to match that opening.
A photo if you have one
A shot of the existing unit, the ceiling, or the roof from the ground answers more questions than a paragraph of description.
Your model number if replacing
VELUX stamps it on a label inside the frame, usually along the top edge. Something like FCM 2222 or VSS C06.
Quantity and timing
If it is a multi-unit job, say so up front. Bulk pricing applies and lead times differ by size and glazing.
